Step 2 – Extend Domain, Create Mesh, Assign material properties to FR4 and solve

Extend the Domain

1.         Main Menu: Mesh - Key-Plane Edit - New Key-Plane…

Define Key Planes normal to X direction:

Enter Value for Coordinate: -0.1 and Apply, then 0.2 and Apply

Define Key Planes normal to Y direction:

Enter Value for Coordinate: -0.1 and Apply, then 0.2 and Apply

Define Key Plane normal to Z direction:

Enter Value for Coordinate: 0.1 and Apply

                                                Close

The computational domain is now extended to include air 10 cm around and 5 cm on top of the enclosure.

2.         Main Menu: Mesh – Create Mesh

This creates an automatic mesh, however, you can alter this mesh to optimize the tradeoff between the speed and accuracy of your model with any of our easy to use Meshing Tools

3.         Main Menu: Material - User Defined

                  Click on Othotropic

Enter Conductivity, Kx, Ky and Kz Values: 10, 10, 1

Apply

4.         Main Menu: Analysis: Create Analysis Deck and Run

5.         Main Menu: Analysis - Run Job

This file can be let run until it converges, though this can be time consuming.  But with Eflo, you can let it run in Full CFD model for a couple of minutes, stop and save it and then run it in non CFD mode, which is much faster.  This gives you more accurate results than non-CFD, but without the time of full CFD.
