TES International is honored to be featured in the TACOM/Tardec booth at the SAE Conggress at COBO.

TES was recently awarded its first phase 2 sbir contract by the Army. This contract is allowing it to incorporate new enhanced features into its commercial ElectroFlo® software.

This SBIR project is focusing on the development of a software package for thermal analysis of electronic systems that can be used during rapid prototyping exercises to study the thermal behavior of complex electronic packages, both individually and as a complete system, with multiple packages in close proximity. The completed tool will be able to accurately predict the thermal field in each package, taking into account the consequences of other electronic boxes in its environment, and be integrated into a "parent" software model for global system prediction.

Military Application:
This project is developing a robust design and analysis tool that will allow the Army to rapidly identify potential electronics thermal management problems and perform quick iterative redesigns to find the best system configurations to minimize thermal overload of critical electronics.

This next generation software package for the thermal management of complex electronic systems will be capable of simulating several models of various electronic systems simultaneously in an integrated global model that is running in parallel, developing a viable solution for one of the Army's most challenging problems. As the power and energy demands increase within future vehicles, electronics thermal management will become more critical to protect the electronics and ensure they retain their functionality during daily operations and in extreme environments.



Established in 1994, TES International, LLC (www.tesint.com) is a Michigan-based company located in Troy that provides state-of-the-art engineering design software and consultation services. TES specializes in electronics cooling, thermal and structural analysis for the aerospace, automotive and electronics industries. The company’s commercial products include Electroflo® and MSC PATRAN Thermal TOOLKIT SOFTWARE packages used for thermal, structural, CFD and electrical analysis.


COMMERCIAL TECHNOLOGY:

The Electroflo® product is a commercially available, full-featured software suite with differentiating features such as object-based modeling, coupled electrical/thermal/CFD analysis (accurate accounting of self-heating effects resulting from flow of electrical current in conductors in the model), automatic application and calculation of radioactive view factors with full user control over complex radiation networks, and nonlinear loads and boundary conditions (time, temperature and/or spatial dependence measurements).

APPLICATIONS:

Aircraft and automotive electronics, gas turbine modeling, engine controller (Thermal/CFD).
TES is involved in areas such as structural and thermal analysis, sensors, material science, and power turbines and next generation electronics cooling software packages.

TES has customers in the US such as Bosch, GM, Ford, Chrysler, GE, Hamilton Sundstrand, Delphi, Alcoa, MSC, TACOM (Army). They also have customers in Mexico, South Korea and Europe.
