A user defined material is created by typing the material name( not contained in the library) in the material data box. This name is added to the materials name list for subsequent uses.

User Specifies: Whether the material properties are constant or temperature dependent using constant/variable button. Variable material property definition is accomplished by building a property table. User specifies temperature and corresponding properties in data boxes. Whether the thermal conductivity exhibits directional dependence ( Kx, Ky, Kz) using Isotropic/Orthotropic options button. Only Specific Heat (Cp) or Thermal conductivity (Kx, Ky, Kz) can be temperature dependent. The material density (Rho) is a constant value. For steady state solution only thermal conductivity is required. Transient runs require Specific Heat (Cp) and Density (Rho) in addition to thermal conductivity (K)

| If there are electrical circuits in the model, the user has to specify electrical properties of electrical resistivity ( Ro and any temperature dependence alpha) | |
| By selecting "Delete Unused Material" button all materials that were at one point added but are no longer being used in the model will be deleted. |
